Holy Hell, a new documentary which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January provides a look into the life of Will Allen and Buddhafield, a cult in Los Angeles, where for 22 years he and many others were under the leadership of cult leader Michel Rostand. Five years after leaving the cult, Allen still experiences the affects of PTSD because of the ongoing actions and events that occurred in cult following, courtesy of Rostand and his sadistic and predatory nature, which is still active today.

A study conducted by the University of California - Los Angeles explored the ideas behind social media, and gathered results from 32 students aged 13-18 and the influences it has on them. The results of the brain scans done while the teens used social media revealed that the number of likes they get activates the same brain circuits that occur when they eat chocolate or win money. This indicated that even if teens do not know their online friends in person, they still have a major influence on their behaviour.
